As fans of both the "Little House on the Prairie" TV show and books know, one day Laura Ingalls grows up, gets married, and becomes Laura Ingalls Wilder. The man she married, Almanzo Wilder, was also portrayed on the television show. Dean Butler joined the show in its sixth season, and he told the Daily Planet that being cast as Laura Ingalls' future husband was an incredible opportunity.

But the friends in town come up with a plan to help the Ingalls keep their property. They keep the auction of the Ingalls’ farm a secret and bid on everything themselves for pennies. They find that some of their old classmates are very successful, but wealth doesn’t necessarily equal happiness or a good marriage. And both Caroline and Charles are propositioned by former married classmates.
Film adaptation
While some of its stars had long careers in Hollywood after the series wrapped, others returned to their theater roots or walked away from showbusiness altogether. There’s nothing quite like taking a stroll down memory lane and reliving the shows that we so much looked forward to back in the day- today let’s revisit Little House on the Prairie. The country was in the midst of a tiresome and controversial war in Vietnam, and a rustic cabin in the wilderness filled with a wholesome family was exactly what we needed. Alicia Silverstone spoke to As If magazine about what it was like to play a fictionalized version of Kyle's mom, Kathleen, in the series. Kyle has been very vocal about the pride she felt in making the show, despite the family rift it ignited, with Kathy insisting it portrayed their mom in a "bad light."

Ellin believes it’s also where you get first examples of how kind, tough, and hard-working the family was. Ellin always found it interesting when the main characters leave the Grove for a trip to the big city where they are fish-out-of-water and do things like ride elevators. This episode sees Charles elected to represent the farmers of Hero Township at a Grange convention in Milwaukee. At the same time, Caroline gets an invitation to the 25th high school reunion in the same city, so they travel there together.
While it's been over 20 years since Kathleen Richards died of breast cancer in 2002, she remains an important figure in Kyle's life. While appearing on the March 27 episode of the Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa podcast, Kyle opened up about her childhood and her relationship with her mom, Kathleen. Amy Bruckner was 13 when she first appeared as the titular character's scheming little sister in Phil of the Future. The young star played Pim Diffy for both seasons of the Disney Channel show, which aired from 2004 through 2006. Ellin turned this devotion into a weekly podcast Wild Nights on the Prairie with Ray Ellin. The show features guests and conversations regarding life lessons learned from the iconic TV show, which lasted nine seasons.
She moved to Montreal, Canada, with her husband and two daughters in 2002. Melissa didn’t also want her kids to feel pressured that they also need to pursue an acting career just like her. She mainly did theatrical productions, but she still continued booking occasional on-screen shows, including a feature film with Kevin Costner. The Little House on The Prairie cast has definitely charmed everyone who tuned in to their small screen show set on a farm in Plum Creek near Walnut Grove, Minnesota. Adapted from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s best-selling series ‘Little House,’ the show first aired on March 30, 1974, with a two-hour motion picture pilot written by Blanche Hanalis. The series finally premiered on September 11 on the NBC network until May 10, 1982.
In 2002 she won a Young Artist Award and in 2006 was honored (if you want to call it an honor) with TV Land’s "Character Most Desperately in Need of a Timeout" award. When she took on the role of Ma, or Caroline Ingalls, Karen Grassle was an undiscovered newcomer. Despite her lack of credits, she auditioned to play Laura Ingalls' no-nonsense mom and won the part. After Little House ended its run, Grassle said adios to Hollywood and moved to New Mexico where she opened Santa Fe’s Resource Theater Company.
Gilbert played Laura for nine seasons, growing up from the little girl in braids to a married mom. She has starred in TV movies and series, appeared on "Dancing with the Stars," wrote two memoirs, served as the president of the Screen Actors Guild, and acts in plays and musicals. The newer Lionsgate remastered sets all contain English, French, and Spanish audio as well as English subtitles. They do not include the special features present on the earlier non-remastered releases, but rather seasons 1 through 6 each contain a roughly 15 minute segment of a special called "The Little House Phenomenon". Seasons 8 & 9 contain the three post-series movie specials as extras, with "Look Back to Yesterday" and "The Last Farewell" appearing on Season 8, and "Bless All The Dear Children" appearing on Season 9. None of the available releases of the series contain "The Little House Years", which was a three-hour Thanksgiving special aired during Season 6 that largely consisted of flashback clips.
Katherine MacGregor as Harriet Oleson
Since 2010, she’s been a main cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, alongside her sisters, Kim Richards and Kathy Hilton. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2004 and died on July 9, 2005. Prior to the show, she appeared in popular series like All in the Family and Ironside. After Little House on the Prairie, she returned to theater and mentored young actors before retiring in the early 2000s. "When I came on the pilot, he was extremely kind and sensitive and a good director and really gave me a chance to find my legs because [TV] was a new medium for me," she told PEOPLE.

The rest of the regular series premiered on the NBC network on September 11, 1974, and last aired on May 10, 1982. Nels and his wife Harriet were known for having a love/hate relationship, sometimes on display for shoppers at their store, Oleson's Mercantile. Nels was a staple character on the show, staying on all nine seasons and the post-show TV films. The twins shared the role of Carrie Ingalls, given their young age, and the role would end up being the only one that either pursued seriously for the rest of their careers.
Sidney Greenbush, 53, had not been back to Big Sky Ranch since she left the show. “It feels like when you go to your childhood home and you haven’t lived there for a long time and there’s a certain familiarity that comes back,” she says. When we were making it, all of us were in similar situation to what the family was in. We didn’t know what it was going to be like, we didn’t know how to do, we didn’t know each other, we were learning to bond … in the mud, in the snow. I always felt like the actual experience we were having helped to make the pilot feel genuine,” says Grassle, 82. Gilbert, 59, is married to the actor and director Timothy Busfield.
She said, "It was a rude awakening coming to Hollywood. I was used to doing juicy parts on the stage ... They didn't know what to do with me. They didn't know what I could do." He was survived by his wife, Barbara Collentine, whom he married in 1948 (per Today). In 1979, he had told the Florence Times that he had moments where he felt sorry for his character. He said, "I couldn't take some of the things he does. Barbara and I share everything and try not to be a burden to each other."
In reality, however, the southern Minnesota landscape where the show is supposed to take place includes no tall mountains. Now 59, Butler is an accomplished stage actor, playing lead roles in Into the Woods and West Side Story. He's also contributed considerably to the legacy of the show, narrating several hours of behind-the-scenes and extra footage for Little House DVDs' bonus features.
He had a distinct vision of how the show should resonate with its viewers and he was right. Melissa Gilbert was perhaps the most famous child actor in the world during the show’s original run. She played the role of Laura Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie and first got her start in the industry as a child actress in the 1960s. She remembers the audition process with Michael Landon, who was already hugely successful from his role of Little Joe Cartwright on Bonanza. Laura recalls walking into the audition and him having this unbelievable glow that was captivating.
She also made her feature film debut in the 1981 horror Happy Birthday to Me. She has since appeared in various movies and TV shows, including The Con Is On with Uma Thurman in 2018. "So I have to say it started out really, really great. It didn't stay great," she added, referring to the tension that grew after she asked for a pay raise for season 2. She later reconnected with Landon and reconciled before he died in 1991. "Mike and I ended on a positive note and I was so, so glad for that," she said. In April of 1991, Landon announced that he’d been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
From the moment it hit the airwaves in 1974, the TV adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved Little House on the Prairie book series became must-see family viewing. Little girls begged for sun bonnets and prairie dresses, and big girls were busy making vintage-inspired Gunne Sax dresses for school dances and other formal affairs. The show proved a passion project for Michael Landon, who sought another surefire hit after rising to fame on the long-running Bonanza. Erstwhile theater actress Karen Grassle signed on as Caroline “Ma” Ingalls. And though Little House usually offered viewers comforting, familiar and often instructive entertainment, the series also boasted secrets and silliness, before and behind the camera. Unlike other Ingalls, the adopted son James was only on the show for two seasons and 21 episodes.
